8 Arrested, $60K In Meth Seized During Drug Probe
RENO, Nev. (AP) — State and federal drug agents in Nevada have arrested eight suspected members of a California-based drug trafficking organization accused of distributing multiple pounds of methamphetamine throughout the Reno-Sparks area on a monthly basis.
Officials for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration in Reno say the arrests made public late Wednesday resulted from a four-month joint investigation led by the Northern Nevada Drug Task Force. They say agents intercepted nearly 2 pounds of meth in December with a street value in excess of $60,000.
The suspected leader, 52-year-old Roselio Leon-Ryes of Modesto was arrested in his hometown on Dec. 20 on charges of drug trafficking and conspiracy to violate the Uniformed Controlled Substances Act. Two of the suspects facing lesser charges are from Reno, 26-year-old Aaron Romero-Luquin and 30-year-old Francisca Baltazar-Zarate.
