700 Pounds Of Pot Recovered In Bus At US-Mexico Border
SAN YSIDRO, Calif. (AP) — U.S. customs officers have found 700 pounds of marijuana in a bus carrying 22 people that was stopped at the San Ysidro Port of Entry.
U-T San Diego (http://bit.ly/Kce1DL ) reports that a canine team was screening vehicles early Tuesday when a dog was alerted to the undercarriage of the bus. Authorities found 177 packages of marijuana in a compartment that had been built in the gas tank.
The street value of the drug was estimated at $350,000.
The 37-year-old driver, a Mexican citizen whose name wasn't released, has been arrested.
