70-Year-Old Man Dragged Behind Vehicle During Robbery
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – An elderly man is recovering from his injuries after being dragged behind a vehicle during a robbery, authorities said.
Aurelio Solache, 70, said he suffered bumps and bruises but avoided any serious injuries after he was dragged behind a vehicle in a parking lot off Northgate Boulevard on Saturday.
The victim, who works at the El Primo Pizzeria as an accordion player, stopped to offer help when three women in a vehicle asked for a couple dollars for gas money. One of the women allegedly snatched his entire wallet and tried to flee.
"When she grabbed his wallet she pulled him in and just hit the gas, almost killed him," said Manuel Lopez, Solache's friend and bandmate. "I was afraid he was going to get knocked down and the car was going to run him over."
The suspects did not slow down after Solache finally got free and tumbled to a stop.
The Sacramento Police Department described the driver as a 25-year-old white woman with blonde hair and a distinctively large nose.
