7-Eleven Stores To Debut New System To Prevent Minors From Buying Alcohol

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A major convenience store chain is deploying a new weapon in the fight against underage drinking.

7-Eleven stores will debut some new technology aimed at preventing minors from buying alcohol.

The system will scan a customer's identification to check not only the person's age but also the validity of the ID.

Employees say the technology will make it easier to spot face IDs.

The system works for all age-restricted items.

About 1,600 7-Eleven stores across California will begin using the new system Monday.
