400-Acre Fire Contained In Altamont Pass
TRACY, Calif. (AP) -- Firefighters successfully contained a brushfire west of Tracy in the Altamont Pass area Thursday afternoon.
CalFire said the fire was surrounded after scorching about 400 acres since it was first reported a little after noon Thursday.
Berlant said the blaze, which was being fanned by gusty winds, briefly threatened power lines in the area.
The smoke sent large amounts of smoke into the skies near Interstate 580.
