4.4-Magnitude Quake Shakes Calif.-Nev. Border
HAWTHORNE, Nev. (CBS13) -- A moderate earthquake rattled a mountainous area near the California-Nevada border Wednesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck a few miles away from Hawthorne, Nevada, at about 3:10 p.m.
No damage was immediately reported and the region appears to sparsely inhabited. The location of the quake is about 30 miles from Mono Lake in Mono County and about 150 miles east of Sacramento.
