30 More Arrests As Calif Gang Sweep Continues
TRACY, Calif. (AP) -- Narcotics agents have made 30 more arrests targeting Northern California's notorious Nuestra Familia prison and street gang, one day after they announced 101 arrests.
Thursday's raids in San Joaquin County followed this week's crackdown in Madera and Merced counties.
Among those arrested is 35-year-old John Pantoja of Tracy.
Special Agent Michelle Gregory of the state attorney general's office described Pantoja as the "gang's street regiment commander" for the Tracy area. Tracy is about 70 miles south of Sacramento.
Pantoja is being held in the San Joaquin County jail in lieu of $1 million bond on suspicion of drug and weapons charges, street terrorism and receiving stolen property.
Authorities say besides the arrests, agents also seized 11 guns while searching 24 properties.
