$25,000 Reward Offered In Man's Murder

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- A $25,000 reward is now being offered for any information about the suspect in a south Sacramento man's murder, his family announced Thursday.

Balbir Singh Dhami, 53, was gunned down in his home on Marla Way in the Laguna Creek area May 19. His wife was also shot by survived.

The reward money was put together by the Dhami family and the Sikh community, according to the announcement.

Investigators say a man came into the home and shot the couple inside the front door. The suspect is described as a black man, short with a thin build.

His car was captured on surveillance video in the area. He was seen driving a four-door gold Mazda Protégé, with a black hood, black front and black rear bumpers.

According to several media reports, Dhami was prosecuted for drug trafficking in 2008 and his son is a fugitive wanted in a fatal shooting, also in 2008, but police have declined to say if either of those incidents are motives for Dhami's murder. They have said they don't believe the shooting was a hate crime.
