SUISUN CITY (CBS13) - Crews continue to battle a grass fire in Solano County near Suisun City that has grown to 1,000 acres, Cal Fire officials say.
The eight-alarm fire broke out around 12:45 p.m. Friday on Branscombe Road, south of Highway 12 and south of Travis Air Force Base.
Dixon Fire Chief Aaron McAlister told CBS13's sister station CBS SF the fire had destroyed one structure but it was unclear whether or not it was a residence.
The blaze is threatening another five to 10 structures, McAlister told CBS SF.
The fire is sending a large plume of smoke into the area, reaching into East Bay neighborhoods.
McAlister says all Solano County firefighters are responding to the blaze, which is about 50 percent contained.
