2 Teens Arrested In Fatal Arden-Arcade Gas Station Shooting

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A teen lost his mother a few years ago, and now is dealing with the loss of his father who was gunned down outside a Sacramento gas station.

One week after the deadly shooting at an Arden-Arcade gas station, Sacramento County sheriff's investigators have arrested two teens in connection with the murder.

It's difficult for Anthony Macias to speak about his father just one week after his murder, but the 15-year-old wants people to know what kind of person his father was.

"A dad that everybody would want," he said.

On Saturday, Jesus Macias' family gathered in his home to remember him, but is still trying to figure out why a trip to the gas station ended in his murder.

For some unknown reason, sheriff's investigators say, two strangers randomly targeted Jesus at the convenience store in the 31 block of El Camino Avenue a week ago.

Jesus was shot and killed after a confrontation. He died of a single gunshot wound to the upper body.

Just hours after his family laid him to rest, detectives arrested two teens: a minor and 18-year-old Gilberto Cardona.

"He's the type of man who would walk away because of his responsibilities with his children," one of Jesus' friends said.

Jesus' murder has Marissa Lopez explaining to their 6-year-old son why his father won't be coming home.

"His kids loved him very, very much and he loved them," she said. "So it's going to be hard."

"I'm just going to try to do what I can to make my dad happy if he was here," said Anthony.

Sheriff's investigators believe the two suspects may have some gang affiliations; however, Jesus is not believed to have any gang ties.
