Deputies: Husband, Wife Dead After Shooting At Carmichael Senior Care Home
CARMICHAEL (CBS13) — The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said two bodies, a man and woman's, were found in the room of the memory care section at the Aegis Living Center in Carmichael Tuesday.
Deputies were called out just after 11:30 a.m. after the fire department discovered the man and woman had been shot and killed.
Sheriff's office said the woman was a resident of the facility, while the man appears to be a visitor. Their names have not been released, but deputies say the pair were a husband and wife.
Cindy Jorgensen tells CBS13 that her mother lives in the assisted living section of Aegis. Her mother just moved back in after being at the hospital. As her sister went to get something from the car, deputies converged on the parking lot.
"Helicopter is above. You know, sheriffs coming up, lights and sirens, fire engine still here when I showed up," Jorgensen said.
Investigators have not detailed what led up to the shooting. But, a spokesperson did say that the investigators aren't looking for suspects.
"Our homicide unit is out here with the detectives," Sergeant Tess Deterding, Sacramento County Sheriff's Office spokesperson, said. "They'll go through the same investigative steps that they would any other homicide incident."
It's a situation Jorgensen says she never would see at the center.
"It just goes to prove that anything can happen anywhere," Jorgensen said. "You know, where you least expect it."
