2 People Injured After Car Crashes Into Creek In Sacramento
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - One person is missing after a car drove into a creek in Sacramento on Monday morning.
According to witnesses in the area, three people were in the small Chevy sedan that drove off of Truxel Road at Garden Highway, went down an embankment and splashed into the creek.
Police are no longer looking for the third person who, witnesses say, was reportedly heard splashing in the creek and walking away from the scene. The two other passengers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries to moderate injuries.
Officers say the situation could have been worse for the two passengers.
"It looks like the vehicle was upside down when we first arrived on scene. They are very lucky to be alive and were able to walk away from this accident," said Sacramento Police Department Sgt. Bryce Heinlein.
Police are investigating whether the passengers were under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.
Tow trucks had a difficult time getting the car out of the creek. The tow cable from a truck broke during the process, causing the vehicle to slide back into the creek. A second truck had to be brought in to finish the job.
