2 Mothers Allegedly Took Kids Shoplifting At Yuba City Walmart
YUBA CITY (CBS13) – Two mothers ended up in jail Sunday after they allegedly used their young children to steal nearly $2,000 worth of merchandise from a Yuba City Walmart, police say.
"I think it's really bad that they used to like that," said one shopper.
Yuba City police say the two mothers, 26-year-old Theodora Dudley and 27-year-old Kandis Sampley, used their kids -- ages 3, 6 and 7 years old -- to help them steal more than 340 items, totaling about $1,800.
"I think that's ridiculous," said shopper Rebecca Knoop.
They had two shopping carts filled with a variety of items, ranging from DVD players to fishing lures, police say. They allegedly stuffed some of the items into the children's diaper bags.
"To use your kids is just teaching them bad behaviors," Knoop said.
The mothers were arrested and charged with burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
"I think that's like child neglect, child abuse," said one mother.
The mothers have since bailed out of jail. Police did not comment on the children's whereabouts.
