2 Killed, 5 Hurt In Lake Tahoe Highway Crash
RENO, Nev. (AP) -- The Nevada Highway Patrol says it does not appear alcohol was a factor in a three-vehicle crash that killed two men and injured five other people on a highway along Lake Tahoe's eastern shoreline.
Trooper Mike Edgell says the fatal crash happened about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and shut down State Route 28 south of Incline Village for about five hours.
Edgell says the two dead men and two female passengers who were critically injured were in a Ford Taurus that was struck head-on by a Ford F350 pickup that first hit a tractor-trailer dump truck.
He identified them Wednesday as Michael Rapanaro, the 57-year-old driver from New York, and 59-year-old Charles Farlow of Reno. Two 57-year-old Reno women, Lori Brown and Rhonda Farlow, are being treated at a Reno hospital.
