UPDATE: Victims Identified In Head-On Crash Outside Of Davis

DAVIS (CBS13) - A small bus carrying disabled passengers crashed head-on with a pickup truck near Davis on Wednesday afternoon, leaving two people dead.

The accident occurred on County Road 102 and County Road 29 just north of Davis. One person on the bus was killed and the driver of the other vehicle also died.

California Highway Patrol says the two vehicles collided head on after the Ford F-250 pickup truck drifted into the lane of the bus belonging to United Cerebral Palsy of greater Sacramento.

The bus victim was identified Thursday as Sara Rae Johnson, an aide with UCP. The truck driver was identified as Jeff Rivas of Woodland.

Nine passengers on the bus were taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries weren't immediately available.

"We've been here 56 years in the greater Sacramento area. This is the first time we've had something this traumatic happen," said Steve Horton, UCP.

Horton says their buses travel more than 4,000 miles a day transporting people to programs.

After Wednesday's accident, they'll review their procedures to see if changes need to be made.

"This was our family member. This is someone that we know," said Horton.

Right now they're focused on mourning and recovering, and remembering the loved one who so tragically lost her life.

"Our UCP family is saddened and shocked and trying to do the best thing for everyone involved," said Horton.
