2-Alarm Fire Breaks Out At Church In Sacramento
(SACRAMENTO) - Firefighters battled a two-alarm fire at a church on 63rd Street in Sacramento on Monday morning.
Heavy black smoke was seen coming from the Arena Fijian Assembly of God just before 8 a.m., according to a statement from the Sacramento Fire Department.
When firefighters first arrived at the church, they attempted to ventilate the fire through the roof, but were unable to cut through because it had two layers; however they were later able to make the necessary cuts.
Firefighters also say access to the interior of the large church was hindered by furniture.
Just after 8:30 a.m., firefighters announced the fire was out.
The cause of the fire is unknown, but a man driving past the church around the time it started says he heard an explosion and pulled over.
No injuries were reported.
