Police Investigating Two More Deaths In Stockton

STOCKTON (CBS13) - Stockton police are investigating two more deaths on Friday as the city continues on a pace to shatter last year's record for homicides with three more within 24 hours.

Police responded to a shooting in the 1500 block S. Stanislaus Street. It's a residential area with older homes. Officers found the body of man in his 20s in the driveway and are going door to door looking for witnesses.

Earlier, a 50-year-old woman was found dead inside an apartment in the 5500 block of Virtue Arc Drive. Police are calling that death suspicious but haven't confirmed that it's a homicide.

The Stanislaus Street killing is the city's 42nd homicide of the year. It also comes less than 24 hours after a 46-year-old woman was shot to death while driving near Hammer Lane on Thursday.

Stockton set a record with 56 homicides in 2011.
