Man Convicted Of First-Degree Murder In Natomas IHOP Shooting
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A Sacramento Superior Court jury convicted a man of first-degree murder on Wednesday for a shooting death outside a Natomas IHOP restaurant last year.
Marcus Jamal Davis, 27, shot and killed Chester Jackson, who was also 27, in the early morning of Feb. 20, 2011.
Jackson and his friends were at the IHOP. Davis was also at the restaurant and had been drinking. He provoked a confrontation with Jackson in front of the restaurant, pulled out his gun and shot Jackson eight times, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney Office.
Eyewitnesses testified that Davis said, "I told you this was going to happen," right before firing the final shot to Jackson's head.
Co-defendant Robert Lucas, 31, who was charged with aiding and abetting, was acquitted of all charges.
