1 Dead, Several Injured In Friday Night Rancho Cordova Car Accident
RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) - A man was killed while numerous others were sent to the hospital after a crash near Folsom and Sunrise Boulevards Friday night.
A preliminary investigation revealed a Volvo was speeding when it collided with a Range Rover travelling southbound on Sunrise Boulevard, police say.
As a result, three other vehicles were struck.
The driver of the Volvo, 51-year-old Ivan Calvin, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 4-year-old boy in the Range Rover was ejected from the vehicle and thrown onto the street. Fortunately, he did not sustain major injuries and is expected to recover.
The boy, the driver of the SUV and the occupants of the three other vehicles were transported to nearby hospitals.
This incident is being investigated by the Rancho Cordova Police Department's Traffic Motor Unit. Anyone with information regarding the accident is asked to contact the police department at (916) 875-9600.
