1 Dead, 2 Hurt In I-80 Crash
RICHMOND, Calif. (AP) -- Authorities are looking for an individual believed to have fled the scene of a multi-vehicle freeway crash in Richmond that killed one person and injured two others.
The California Highway Patrol says three vehicles collided on Interstate 80 near Carlson Boulevard around 5 a.m. Sunday, temporarily blocking all eastbound lanes. Officers arrived to find two of the vehicles on fire.
The CHP says three victims were transported to nearby hospitals, where one of them, a Fremont man, died of his injuries. The two others, a 24-year-old woman and a 47-year-old Daly City man, reportedly suffered moderate injuries.
Authorities have not identified the victims.
CHP Officer Kevin Bartlett says witnesses reported seeing the driver of one of the vehicles hop over the freeway's center divider and flee on foot. That individual has not been identified.
