Marathon weekend came to a close Sunday, as 20,000 people raced across Pittsburgh in the marathon, half marathon, and relay. A little rain didn’t stop them, and many had their own personal reasons for crossing the finish line. KDKA-TV's Lauren Linder has more.
Andrew Bowman, 30, and Jane Bareikis, 29, won the men's and women's divisions of the full-course marathon, respectively. Bowman crossed the finish line with a time of 2:15:50, while Bareikis finished the race in 2:37:37.
Late on Saturday night, 50 cars gathered for an attempted street race, and after police broke it up, a truck crashed through marathon fencing.
With a medical tent at the finish line, UPMC will provide medical care at 17 first aid stations along the marathon route.
