Zbynek Michalek Undergoes Hip Surgery
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) -- Penguins defenseman Zbynek Michalek had successful hip surgery Wednesday, according to the team.
Neither Michalek nor the team announced during or after the season that he was injured. He played in 62 regular season games and all six games against Philadelphia in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The surgery was performed by Dr. J. W. Thomas Byrd of the Nashville Sports and Orthopaedic Center.
A timetable for Michalek's return is not yet known.
