WVU To Face NC State In Champs Sports Bowl
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — The West Virginia University Mountaineers have accepted an invitation from the Champs Sports Bowl to face North Carolina State in Orlando.
WVU finished the season with a 9-3 record, won a share of the Big East title with UConn and Pitt, and ranked 22nd in the AP Top 25 poll.
The game will be held at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla., on Tuesday, Dec. 28 with kickoff at 6:30 p.m. The Champs Sports Bowl replaces the Gator Bowl as the Big East conference affiliation.
West Virginia is making its ninth consecutive bowl appearance.
N.C. State has played West Virginia twice in the Peach Bowl with a 1-1 record. In 1972 the Wolfpack beat WVU 49-13 and three years later the Mountaineers came back to beat the Wolfpack 13-10 in the 1975 Peach Bowl.
