WVU Probing Dana Holgorsen *Updated*
Pittsburgh (KDKA)- It's not the kind of early impression that future head coach Dana Holgorsen wanted to make at West Virginia. *Updated*
USA TODAY is reporting that Holgorsen, WVU's offensive coordinator and coach in-wating, is being investigated for an alleged incident at a local casino.
The school released the following statement about the situation:
"Athletic director Oliver Luck and head coach Bill Stewart have been made aware of the alleged incident," a statement said. "Once they have all the facts, they will deal with it appropriately."
Holgorsen reportedly attended a Mountaineer Athletic Club function last Tuesday before heading to Cross Lanes Casino with representatives of the university.
According to the Charleston Daily Mail, multiple people said Holgorsen was escorted from the casino after an incident around 3 a.m. Wednesday. No charges have been filed in the case.
Updated (11:10 AM):
According to the Dominion Post "police were called to escort Holgorsen out of the Cross Lanes Mardi Gras Casino and Resort last week. Police say it appeared Holgorsen was intoxicated and refused to leave until officers arrived. He then cooperated and no charges were filed and no arrests made.
The paper says Nitro police were called to the casino at 3:20 a.m. on May 18th on a report of "an intoxicated male that was refusing to leave."
Nitro Police spokesman H.R. Blake is quoted in the Dominion Post saying casino employees were following policy. "If the bartender feels like you have had too much to drink, they will refuse to sell you any more alcohol, and I believe that was the case in this incident," Blake told the paper.
"He (Holgorsen) was causing some problems so they called us to escort him off the property, and that's exactly what we did," Blake told the DP."
We're told that Luck has left the Big East meetings in Florida to deal with this situation.
