Workers Chip Ice From Cowboys Stadium Ahead Of Game
ARLINGTON, Texas (KDKA) -- After falling sheets of ice and snow caused some injuries Friday afternoon, crews were hard at work in Texas today getting Cowboys Stadium ready for the Super Bowl.
Throughout the morning, workers were high above the world's largest dome removing ice, and chipping and hosing what they could.
The ice that fell from the roof put several workers in the hospital, including one in critical condition.
Meanwhile, for Steelers fans, the stadium was spectacle enough, but the clean up on top was just another sight to behold.
"No way, there's no way I'd get up there," said John Lewis, of Butler.
"I can't even imagine doing it, let alone getting up there," added Robert Hathaway, of Upper St. Clair. "They're actually chipping the ice off?"
For the first time during Super Bowl week, the temperatures got into the 40s; freeing Dallas' metroplex from winter's stranglehold.
The warm sun beat down, but for Steelers fans it could be one to 100 degrees, it really didn't matter. They aren't in Texas for the weather anyway.
"We're just excited to be here. It's going to be a great game," said Lewis. "The Steelers are going to win and we're going to love every second of it."
"This is like my dream come true," said Nancy Sacunas, of Pittsburgh. "I'm so excited; I can't even stand it."
The forecast calling for temperatures in the upper 30s and low 40s on Super Bowl Sunday.
