Women Rumble In Lawrence Co. Road Rage Incident
NESHANNOCK TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- The battle on Okinawa Drive was nothing compared to its World War II namesake, but last Sunday evening shots were fired in a normally quiet Neshannock Township neighborhood.
"We received a call for an assault between two women in a front yard," says Lt. John Rand of the Neshannock Police Dept.
According to police, Corena Rickel, 36, who lives on Okinawa Drive, shouted at a passing driver she believed was going way too fast.
That driver, Barbara Norco, of New Castle, 47, turned around, returning at the same speed.
Corena Rickel yelled "Stop!" Norco did stop and exited her ride ready to rumble.
"It was stated they were rolling around on the ground in an actual fist fight," Lt. Rand said.
Corena's husband, Don Rickel, heard the commotion, saw his wife being pounded and pulled out an attention getter.
"He then fired a .357 revolver into the air to break up the fight," Rand said.
Still no go, until Norco's husband Mike arrived at the scene.
"He pulls his wife away and takes her back down the street," Rand said.
Peace is restored.
Police have charged Barbara Norco with DUI, public drunkenness, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
Don Rickel is facing charges of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct for discharging his weapon in a residential setting.
All of this might seem a little comical, but it could have had a very serious outcome.
Lt. Rand says when serious confrontations arise, "Call the police. Let us come and handle it."
