2 Women Accused Of Setting House On Fire In Homewood
HOMEWOOD (KDKA) - Two women are behind bars and are accused of intentionally setting a house on fire in Homewood, with another woman inside.
The fire happened around 3 p.m. Sunday at a home on Tioga Street.
According to the criminal complaint, Quianna Robinson and Tiffany Mitchell-Fields had words with Olivia St. Clair inside the house. Officials say the house has been vacant for a few months, but some squatters have been living there.
St. Clair says a few hours later, she heard kicking and banging on the front door. She also heard the two women yelling "I'm gonna [expletive] that [expletive] up," and "I'm gonna burn that [expletive]."
St. Clair heard a "crackling" noise from downstairs and then saw smoke and fire. She grabbed her belongings and kicked out the second floor bedroom window. She had to climb onto the front porch roof and then feel to the ground.
"Three females were seen fleeing the scene. It was determined that one of the females was a victim," Pittsburgh Public Safety Spokeswoman Emily Schaffer said.
Quianna told police that Tiffany grabbed a brick, threw it through the window. Then, she lit a cardboard box on fire, dropped it inside the window and walked away.
"It's believed that two of the females went to the residence over some dispute and they threw possibly a cardboard box that was lit on fire into the residence," Schaffer said.
The fire spread to two-alarms and in the process, a firefighter was hurt.
"We had a pretty bad situation with a lot of debris," said Deputy Fire Chief Michael Mullen. "It was like a hoarder situation, as well as a couple of structural deficiencies. We had to use the rear door to enter the home."
Robinson and Mitchell-Fields both face charges of aggravated arson, arson-endangering a person and causing or risking a catastrophe.
