Woman Trapped In Flash Flooding Thankful To Rescuer

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Despite the tragic losses from Friday's flash flooding, there are many who are thankful to be alive and thankful that someone came along to rescue them.

Roumainka Connolly was trapped in her car during Friday's flood and she was prepared to die.

"It was so out of control till I finally said, 'God, if you are going to take me, take me now, take me quickly,'" said Connolly.

But just when she thought the worst was about to happen, another flood victim, Christine Marty, swam by and rescued Connelly, a woman who doesn't swim and is battling cancer.

"I said, 'I can't.' I said, 'I'm fighting lung cancer; I'm running out of strength.' I said, 'Just let me go,'" said Connolly. "She said, 'No, I'm not.'"

But, Marty coaxed her to fight, fight for her life. That's why Connelly is alive.

"There's no words I can tell this girl. You saved my life. If it hadn't been for her, I would have been dead, inside the vehicle," Connelly added.
