Woman Faces Charges For 2012 Crash That Killed 1
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A woman who was in the car that crashed and killed another woman in Fayette County back in 2012 now faces homicide by vehicle charges.
It was on State Route 166 in German Township where state police say Roxanne Wolfe lost her life when the jeep she was traveling in lost control on Aug. 8, 2012.
Dan Irwin, a witness who helped the crash victims, was interviewed the morning after the accident.
"They said they were going back to a party that was down the road, but obviously, they didn't make it," said Irwin.
Wolfe wasn't the only one in the car. State Police say 18-year-old Steven Hawk was a passenger and 18-year-old Lindsay Skocik was behind the wheel.
This week, State Police filed homicide by motor vehicle charges against Skocik.
According to the criminal complaint, after the jeep came to a rest, Skocik - who was seriously injured as well - approached a dazed but okay Hawk saying, "She could not go down for this and for him to say he was driving."
According to court records, Skocik hovered over the victim, once again saying, "I can't go down for this, wake up Roxanne."
The criminal complaint reports that when asked by a state trooper who was driving, Skocik said, "I don't remember."
Skocik has a preliminary hearing scheduled for June. She remains free on $50,000 unsecured bond.
