Woman Charged With Shoplifting With Toddler In Tow

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Shopping at Walmart with mommy turned into something very different for two young mothers and their children last week at the Scott Township store.

"Two females were in Walmart, they had their children with them, they attempted to leave without paying," Scott Township Police Sgt. Jeff Skees said.

Police identified the two women as 22-year-old India Lee of Carnegie and 20-year-old Carlee Windsor of Pittsburgh.

According to police, Lee had a shopping cart with nearly $500 worth of goods, when she walked out of the store.

"There was child clothing toys and other miscellaneous clothing," Skees said.

Walmart loss prevention caught the women and called police.

Lee has been caught at the same Walmart store at least twice before, so in addition to retail theft and child endangerment, she was charged with trespassing.

As for parenting skills, other shoppers Monday were horrified.

"It's one thing to steal," one mom said. "It's another thing to do it blatantly in front of your children and then they watch you get caught, how terrible for them."
