Woman Arrested For Attacking Boyfriend With Box Cutter Over Unpaid Bill
HOMEWOOD (KDKA) - A local woman is facing charges of attempted homicide and aggravated assault for a violent attack on her boyfriend in Homewood.
According to the criminal complaint, Lawrence Scott was sleeping at his girlfriend's house. He says he was woken up by Tracie Billings, who started arguing with him over a bill that needed to be paid.
Scott said they had been arguing for the past couple of days. Saturday's argument turned physical when Billings grabbed a box cutter and began cutting Scott all over his body.
Scott had lacerations to his left hand, right arm and his neck. He left the apartment on Hamilton Avenue and called his grandmother for help. She picked him up and drove him to UPMC Shadyside Hospital.
"It was discovered that his one laceration was so severe that he had to be transported for emergency surgery," Pittsburgh Public Safety Spokeswoman Emily Schaffer said.
Police say Scott was highly intoxicated at the time.
When police arrived, Billings yelled out the window, "Are you here to arrest me?"
Police found blood on the front porch and steps. Billings came downstairs and was taken into custody without incident
"When police arrived, they did find a large amount of blood both outside the residence on the front porch along with inside the residence. They also found the box cutter which was used in the altercation," Schaffer said.
A friend was at Billings' apartment too and told police Billings was upset with Scott because she saw him walking with another woman earlier in the morning.
Billings also claims Scott was assaulting her first and she started to cut him with the knife in self-defense. Billings had Scott's blood on the right side of her face, there was also blood on the steps leading up tot he apartment and a large amount of blood throughout the apartment.
Billings was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital to be treated for stomach pain and to remove the blood from her face.
She was then transferred to the Allegheny County Jail, where she was charged with attempted homicide and aggravated assault.
