Report: Woman Charged For Leaving Baby Alone To Shoot BB Guns At Mailboxes
WASHINGTON (KDKA) – A woman is facing charges for leaving a baby unattended to allegedly go shoot BB guns at mailboxes and rental units.
The incident happened at the Jollick Manor complex in Washington.
Police were initially called to the scene for a report of two women shooting BB guns.
Officers located one of the women when they arrived at the scene. She told officers she didn't live there and was told to leave.
A few minutes later, the second woman, 20-year-old Aneya Gilbert was spotted sitting outside of unit 174.
Witnesses identified her as the other person shooting the BB guns, but she denied those claims to police.
She also told officers she didn't live in the complex and was told to leave. However, she was spotted exiting through the back door of unit 174 within minutes.
Auston Allen, 17, was in Jollick Manor when it all went down.
"First we seen three to four police here knocking on doors trying to figure everything out," he said.
After hearing a child crying, police entered the residence using the same back door and found an unattended 5-month-old girl.
"They wouldn't let them in, so they went around back and opened the door," said Allen.
Gilbert returned about 10 minutes later and confessed that she was watching the child while the maternal grandmother was at work.
As a result, Gilbert is now facing a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.
The baby is currently in CYS care.
