Winter Weather Could Impact Monday Morning Commute
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – While the calendar turned to March a couple of weeks ago, winter continues to linger.
Now, more winter weather is on the way and could impact the Monday morning commute. As a result, alerts and warnings have been issued for much of the area.
According to the National Weather Service, this system will bring both snow and ice and will start Sunday evening.
A general one to two inches of snow is expected in addition to trace amounts of ice.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the following counties in Pennsylvania from 11 p.m. Sunday until 2 p.m. Monday: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Clarion, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence, Mercer, Venango and Washington.
The same advisory is also in effect for Brooke and Hancock counties in West Virginia.
The areas of higher elevations could see three to six inches of snow from this system.
As a result, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Cambria and Somerset counties in Pennsylvania until midnight Monday.
The same is in effect for Garrett County, Md. and Preston County, W. Va.
The cold, dreary weather is expected to continue throughout most of the week.
"It really doesn't let up ... in fact it may even be Thursday or Friday before we see any sunshine at all," KDKA's Jon Burnett said.
Temperatures will remain near the 20s and low 30s through the week.
