What Awaits the Penguins If They Advance?

PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) – The Philadelphia Inquirer's Sam Carchidi joined John Phillips Thursday night on "The Late Shift" to talk about the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers series. The Rangers currently lead the Flyers 2-1 heading into Game 4 in Philadelphia.

Carchidi talks about the key to victory in Game 3, which he says,"the Rangers for the most part took the fans out of the game."

They talk about the goaltending so far for the Flyers. He says that Emery has not played well giving up cheap goals early, especially in Game 3.

"You just can't do that in the playoff," Carchidi says.

He notes they hope netminder Steve Mason will provide a spark in Game 4.

Carchidi talks about some of the problems the Flyers have faced so far, which are similar to what the Penguins have experienced.

He says, "When you get one goal out of your big 7, you're going to struggle."

Carchidi talks about Craig Berube's first season as the Flyers' head coach.

"It took the Flyers awhile to get used to Berube's system," he said.

The Flyers only averaged two goals a game for the first 20 games, but he notes, "that was the worst stretch of the season."

The Flyers faceoff against the Rangers in Game 4 at 7 p.m. on Friday from the Wells Fargo Center.
