Pirates Place Snyder On DL
PITTSBURGH (KDKA)- The already thin Pirates lineup is going to get weaker with the injury to catcher Chris Snyder.
Snyder was forced to leave last night's game after the second inning because of lower back pain.
The back pain is in the same place that forced him to start the season on the disabled list.
Snyder will be examined later today and the team will decide if they need to put him back on the DL.
It appears as though Dusty Brown will be the starter for the immediate future.
If Snyder has to be disabled, who will be Brown's backup?
The catching depth is really thin because both Ryan Doumit (fractured ankle) and Jason Jaramillo are both on the disabled list.
The two current options at Indianapolis are Eric Fryer and Wyatt Toregas.
There is also speculation that GM Neal Huntington could look to claim Jake Fox, who was just released by the Baltimore Orioles.
UPDATE: The Pirates have placed catcher Chris Snyder on the 15-day disabled list and have recalled Wyatt Toregas from Indianapolis.
