West Middlesex Man Facing Charges In Alleged Kidnap Plot
HERMITAGE (KDKA) -- A Mercer County man is now facing charges after police say he plotted to kidnap a teenage girl.
State police say William Cameron Jr., of West Middlesex, wanted someone to kidnap the 14-year-old girl so she couldn't testify against him.
According to investigators, Cameron asked an acquaintance to carry out the kidnapping.
"I believe because the case being tied up in court, I think he was weighing his odds to see if he was going to fare well through court system or not," said Trooper Matt Roth, of the Pennsylvania State Police. "And now, it's progressing; I don't think it was going to go his way."
Cameron met up with the man he hoped to hire at the Walmart in Hermitage, and that man went to police.
Cameron remains in the Mercer County Jail.
