Weekend Events To Draw Thousands To Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Drivers in Downtown Pittsburgh and on the North Shore were going nowhere fast Friday night.
Several events caused a bit of traffic jam, and with more activities planned this weekend, people are being advised to allow extra time.
There are Pirates games both Saturday and Sunday and a Boyz II Men concert follows the game on Saturday.
The Autism Speaks Walk happens Saturday morning on the North Shore.
The Three Rivers Arts Festival continues. "We have a full day of bluegrass with some legends coming in," said Marguerite Jarrett Marks, the festival's executive director.
Melissa Etheridge will perform Saturday night at the Pittsburgh Pride Festival. "It's a huge coup for Pittsburgh," said Chris Bryan, from the Delta Foundation. "It's actually Melissa Etheridge's first gay pride ever."
On Sunday, there's a march as part of the Pride Festival that's expected to draw a big crowd, another Pirates game at PNC Park and it's the final day of the Three Rivers Arts Festival.
The Port Authority has to re-route some buses because of closed streets, and the "T" will have double trains to help handle the crowds, according to spokesperson Jim Ritchie.
"This is what a downtown is supposed to be: bustling, people walking around and music playing," said Bryan.
