Website Finds Great Deals In Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH (KDKA-TV) -- If you like to save money or if you like to take advantage of free events, there's a website you need to check out.
There's a new website that has done all the work for you and it's hunting down the best bargains in Pittsburgh.
The deals are so good on the website that it's been named as the "Best Bargain Website" by Pittsburgh Magazine.
For instance, you can find a deal for dinner for two, a movie at a theater and dessert all for about $35.
Colleen Kudis is a mother of two from Jefferson Hills and is an avid user of LivingPittsburgh.com.
"I look to see what all's happening that I can take my kids and do a family event for free or very affordable," Kudis said.
There's deals for couples too.
The website maps out how to have an affordable Monday out at the South Side Works.
Heather and Bry Vance from Kittanning agreed to give it a try.
"We don't get to go out and eat all the time, but this makes it a lot easier," Heather Vance said.
First, go to McCormick and Schmick's during happy hour.
Fish tacos are a $1.95 and a half pound cheeseburger is $2.95. To get those prices, each person has to order at least a $3.50 drink.
Add a tip and it can still come in around $17.
Next, $5 each for a movie at South Side Works Cinema on Mondays only and you still have money to split a piece of cheesecake after.
Your total bill should be anywhere from $35 to $40.
The website also lists places where on certain days, at certain times you can get cheap burgers and tacos.
It also lists when some attractions have free admission days and when free events are going on around town.
Heather Walsh and Rachel Booth created LivingPittsburgh.com.
"It really is amazing how many free things happen in Pittsburgh all the time," Walsh said.
When something is not free, they've figured out when to visit places to get a discount.
For example, Arsenal Bowling in Lawrenceville holds Super Saturdays every week. For $7 you can bowl all you want from noon until 3 p.m.
Another example is at the Andy Warhol Museum on the North Side. They offer half-price admissions every Friday night from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m.
There's a Friday night sky-watching deal at the Science Center, while Wednesday is the day to get 50 percent off on many clothing items at Pittsburgh area Salvation Army Thrift Stores.
If you have kids, the website will tell you which restaurants offer free or discounted meals for children and when.
At Fuddruckers, kids can eat for 99 cents on certain days. At Max and Erma's, kids can eat free on Tuesdays, which is the same day kids can eat free at Denny's during certain hours.
The salad bar is free for kids five-years-old and under at Eat 'N Park with an adult purchase.
The website lists deals by the days of the week, neighborhood and by category.
"We've tried to set it up in such a way that it's really easy to find what you're looking for," Rachel Booth said.
They also have a feature where you can have bargain alerts sent to your cell phone or e-mail and you can also follow them on Twitter.
