Weapon Found Outside Of Pittsburgh Allderdice High School
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a gun was found outside of Pittsburgh Allderdice High School on Monday.
According to a statement from the school, officials acted on rumors regarding a possible problem at the school.
During the course of their actions, school police used a gun powder dog to search the grounds of the school.
"This morning, we had a couple phone calls in that there was going to be possibly an issue at school today. No initial comments about there being a weapon," said Melissa Freiz, the principal. "School police came. They ran a search of the building, in which, within 15 minutes they were able to find a weapon."
The gun was found on school property, and Pittsburgh Police were called in to do a secondary search of the property, but nothing was found.
"I just knew that they were going to be looking for it in school," said Colin St. John, a student. "They were checking everyone more cautiously."
There will be extra police on hand at the high school throughout the week as a precaution.
