Washington Woman's Basement Floods
WASHINGTON (KDKA) -- A Washington County woman had an unpleasant surprise in her basement.
Fay Earley, of Washington, found her basement flooded.
"We had all this rain and stuff and we'd had a few problems before with the drains over the weekend, but we thought they were fixed but this extra rain must've brought more," she said.
Ten Mile Creek was still swollen after storms passed through the area, dropping more than an inch of rain in parts of Washington County.
As a result, Ten Mile Road saw some water as well, but it's not uncommon, according to Township Supervisor Dwayne Piatt.
"Usually twice a year, three times a year it depends on how much rain we get up above," he said.
Sue Rudnick, of Rudnik's, is used to it. Her burger, beer and hoagie business takes a hit when the road closes.
"Once it stops raining, it takes between an hour or two to go back down," she said.
