Washington Co. Home Invasion, Shooting Injures 1
CALIFORNIA BOROUGH (KDKA) - The search is underway for suspects after a home invasion and shooting in Washington County Tuesday morning.
Carey Davis, 22, was shot in the arm and buttocks during the incident at his California Borough home. His father said he rushed over when he got the call.
"Just waking up and somebody gave me a phone call and told me he was shot and there were police down here everywhere. So, I jumped in my truck and here I am," Davis' father said.
State Police were assisting the California Borough Police to gather evidence inside and outside the home.
According to police, they believe two people were involved in the shooting and fled the scene.
As police try to find out who is responsible, Davis' father said his son was the victim of another crime not too long ago.
"Like I said, I think they stole his quad a couple months ago. But, what he's into, I don't really know," Davis' father said.
Police are looking at several surveillance cameras and are searching for shell casings.
The family said Davis was rushed to UPMC Presbyterian hospital, but he should recover from the shooting.
"I'm just happy he's alive," Davis' father said.
California University alerted student to the incident even though Davis is not a student there.
They are asking students to lock their doors and also said extra security will be at nearby off-campus housing complexes.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
