Warrant Issued For Local Teacher Facing Indecent Assault Charges
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A teacher with Pittsburgh Public Schools is facing serious charges, accused in the alleged assault of a student.
He's a 29-year-old teacher and he's charged with indecent assault on a 15-year-old female student. The accusations came from Perry Traditional Academy in Pittsburgh's Perry North neighborhood.
An arrest warrant was issued Thursday night for Michael White.
The alleged assaults have been going on since the beginning of the school year in September at Perry High School.
According to investigators, the 15-year-old girl told police she was allegedly fondled and grabbed.
After the arrest warrant was issued Thursday night, KDKA headed to White's residence in Homewood.
KDKA's Paul Martino: "Mr. White, Paul Martino from KDKA-TV, can I talk to you? You don't want to talk to us, sir?"
He wasn't giving interviews.
It's not clear if White intends to turn himself in or if police plan to arrest him.
A spokeswoman for Pittsburgh Public Schools says the school was made aware of the accusations in December. They put the teacher on paid leave and they turned the investigation over to Pittsburgh Police.
