Ward, Battle Injured In Loss
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Steelers wide receivers Hines Ward and Arnaz Battle were injured in the Pittsburgh's 23-20 loss to Baltimore Sunday night.
Ward suffered a helmet-to-helmet blow from Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis in the second quarter as he went across the middle of the field to catch a pass. Ward left the game and did not return. The Steelers labeled his injury as a stinger, and his status should be further updated in Steelers coach Mike Tomlin's weekly press conference Tuesday.
Lewis was not flagged for the hit, but he could be fined by the NFL front office.
Battle left in the first quarter with a hamstring injury, meaning the Steelers were left with just three healthy wide receivers for the majority of the game: Mike Wallace, Antonio Brown and Jerricho Cotchery. Emmanuel Sanders was inactive because of a death in his family.
Steelers inactives along with Sanders were quarterback Dennis Dixon, linebackers James Farrior and LaMarr Woodley, offensive linemen Doug Legursky and Jamon Meredith and defensive lineman Chris Hoke.
