Walmart Issues Warning About New Email Scam
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- There are two new scams to warn you about.
On Thursday morning, people began receiving emails that appear to be from Walmart congratulating them for buying a $900 TV.
Trouble, the recipients didn't buy a TV, and it appears to be going to someone they don't know.
You should not click on any links, however, because the email isn't from Walmart
In fact, if you look closely, the sender's address is spelled "Wallmart." Clicking on a link could allow a virus onto your computer, which can allow thieves to steal personal information.
The real Walmart put out a warning to let people know about the scam.
The Better Business Bureau is warning people about the second scam, where crooks pose as the government.
Someone calls you up and wants personal information to sign you up for insurance under the Affordable Care Act.
The BBB says you should just hang up, and that the government doesn't typically call, text or email you.
Open enrollment under the act doesn't even begin until October.
