Wallets Stolen From Woman's Purse In Hospital Waiting Room

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are looking for the person who stole two wallets from a woman's purse in a hospital waiting room.

The woman said sometime while she was asleep between 1:20 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. on May 12 in the ICU lounge at Allegheny General Hospital, the wallets were stolen.

Investigators say among the stolen items were two Visa cards and an ATM card.

"She was asleep about five hours. She had her purse next to her when she fell asleep - containing both her wallet and her husband's wallet, and when she woke in the morning, both wallets were gone from her purse," said Sgt. Robert Jurich, of Pittsburgh Police.

Police tracked the credit cards and found that one was used at the Sunoco Gas Station on Cedar Avenue later that same day.

Police have issued photos from the surveillance camera at the gas station in an effort to track down the suspects.

Two males, one in a light-colored hoodie, used a credit card to buy gasoline, and then went inside to try and buy coffee. The second man, in a blue shirt, drove the car to the gas station.

"It was a blue Dodge Durango, and the suspect appears to be a tall, black male, middle-aged," said Sgt. Jurich.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 412-323-7201.
