Wallace Ready To Take On Revis
PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) - As Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes returns to Heinz Field on Sunday with his new team, his replacement is ready to prove himself.
Last year's number 3 receiver, Mike Wallace replaced Holmes after the Steelers traded him to the Jets in the offseason.
Wallace, who has 46 catches for 946 yards and eight touchdowns, says he is looking forward to matching up against one of the best cornerbacks in the league, Darelle Revis.
Wallace says his speed will allow him to pass the test and prove to the league that he is the best wide receiver in the NFL.
When asked about Revis, Wallace said, "I don't care about nobody. He's just another guy. He's a real good player, but, hey, I'm a real good player myself. I don't fear nobody and I don't back down from nobody. Whoever comes out and lines up, that's who I'm going to be going against."
While Wallace has never played against Revis, he says he has watched enough tape to know what to expect. "[He'll be] right up in your grill, in your face and you've got to beat him."
Revis, however, doesn't think Wallace will have that chance on Sunday. In fact, he recently said that he's almost bored because quarterbacks won't throw to the receivers he is covering.
Revis has 21 combined tackles and no interceptions this season.
