Vigil Held For Slain Beaver Falls Mother
BEAVER FALLS (KDKA) – Dozens of people gathered to remember a young mother Sunday night who was shot and killed in front of her house in Beaver County.
Two of the three teenagers accused in the shooting are still on the run.
Earlier this month, 22-year-old Kayla Peterson was shot and killed after telling the teenagers to leave her boyfriend alone after they pestered him for cigarettes.
Peterson's boyfriend, William Bailey, was at the vigil with their 23-month-old daughter.
The vigil was organized by a local church leader. The message was simply to get the guns off the street and start showing compassion for one another.
"She spoke her mind and that's one of the things I loved the most about her. She told people how it was and it's a shame that things happen the way they do. And I pray for her every night and I see her around my daughter every night before I go to bed. I know she's there holding her," Bailey said.
Todavia Cleckley and Marcus Velasquez, both 14, will face adult charges when captured.
The district attorney said anyone harboring the two teens will also face charges.
Police have already arrested a 13-year-old boy in connection with the murder as well.
