VIDEO: Undrafted Free Agent Makes Emotional Announcement, Signs With Steelers
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Kansas State center B.J. Finney was projected to be drafted in the fourth or fifth round of this year's NFL Draft. However, he had to sit and watch the entire draft go by without his name being called.
Finney has a unique story of hard work and determination that crafted his college career.
A former walk-on at Kansas State, Finney became a four-year starter making 52 consecutive starts and was the first offensive lineman in school history to be voted a team captain three times.
In 2014, Finney was named the Big 12 Co-Offensive Lineman of the Year and a member of the First-Team All-Big 12.
Achieving as much as he did, you would have expected Finney to be drafted by some team, especially given that he's considered a "plug-and-play" type prospect, meaning he could step right onto an NFL field and play.
Short arms and some technique issues in the end were to blame for Finney falling out of the draft, but as you can see in the video above, he's an emotional man who appears to be ready to prove all his doubters wrong after signing as an undrafted free-agent with the Steelers.
