Verizon Releases Transparency Report
Verizon has released its first Transparency Report.
It says it received approximately 320,000 requests for customer information from federal, state or local law enforcement last year.
Most were subpoenas.
Verizon says they were generally used to obtain customer information.
The report also shows thousands of "pen registers" and "trap and trace" orders, which give law enforcement real-time access to phone numbers and calls.
It also received just under 1,500 wiretap orders last year.
