Verizon Customers May Need Patience During Strike

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- With hundreds of local Verizon workers on strike, what does it mean for customers?

Many of the people on the picket lines are from the call centers. While they're out, you may get automated services.

"I'll transfer you to someone who can help you. [Beep] I'm sorry. Due to a work stoppage, customer service agents are not available to answer your call.

"We apologize for any inconvenience. Please visit us on the web at Verizon.com to complete this or any other request you may have. Thank you. Goodbye."

Many of the services that would normally be available through a customer service representative were available on Verizon's website.

What isn't clear is whether or not those same services that require someone to come to your home will be available in a timely fashion.
